On December 5 and 6, 2024, Baltic Finance Center organizes a Harvard Business Publishing case study teaching workshop, which will be led by Professor Peter Bryant. It is a part of BFC teacher training courses, the purpose of which is to prepare faculty from Latvian universities to teach financial technology (FinTech) business education study courses. 32 lecturers from 11 universities participate in the training.
From this academic year, innovative FinTech business education study courses developed by BFC are available to Latvian universities, which they can integrate into their study programs. The creation and implementation of these courses are funded by the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. The courses have been developed in response to the industry’s needs and in close cooperation with representatives of the industry ecosystem — companies, associations, the Bank of Latvia, and the Ministry of Finance.
The training program is designed as an interactive learning experience, combining lectures, discussions, case studies and collaborative activities, creating a supportive network of educators and promoting experience exchange.
Inese Muzikante, Acting Director of RTU Riga Business School: “We are pleased about the opportunity to strengthen Latvian educator’s skills in applying case study teaching in cooperation with Harvard Business Publishing. One of the main goals of our courses is to prepare students for real work in the FinTech industry, and the case study method contributes to this by developing students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills through real business scenarios.”
Kristīne Dambe, Director of RBS Baltic Finance Center: “When developing FinTech business education courses and teacher training programs, our goal was to promote the implementation of the best international practices in the Latvian higher education environment. Our faculty deserve the opportunity to improve their skills in the best universities in the world, and we are pleased to bring this valued workshop to Latvia.”
