EDUCATION AND TRAINING

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Offering education and training in specialized areas of financial services is essential to our role as an educational institution within the innovation ecosystem.

We build on our business school roots and develop courses that address clear gaps and stakeholder needs. Our initial courses focus on undergraduate and graduate FinTech business education, and we plan to expand the training offer over time.

NEW FINTECH BUSINESS

EDUCATION COURSES

As part of an EU-funded project, we are developing new undergraduate and graduate FinTech business education courses to be integrated into existing programs across higher education institutions in Latvia starting from the 2024/2025 academic year.

Through this initiative, we aim to build a vibrant learning and teaching community united by a shared interest in holistic FinTech business education that integrates entrepreneurial, business, financial, regulatory and technology perspectives.

OUR ROLE IN THE FINTECH

INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM

We are committed to supporting the development of the FinTech and financial services innovation ecosystems alongside other stakeholders and academic institutions.

As a business school-based education and research center, we recognize our specific role in providing business education to FinTech professionals, as well as in accumulating, analyzing and sharing the regional business development and scaling “know-how.”

In financial services, the challenge lies in integrating a business development mindset with regulatory, financial services and technology mindsets.

Developing holistic education initiatives therefore necessitates involvement from the ecosystem, including firms, investors, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders.

NEW COURSES PROVIDING

HOLISTIC FINTECH BUSINESS

EDUCATION

NEW COURSES PROVIDING HOLISTIC FINTECH BUSINESS EDUCATION

As part of a project funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, we have developed and are currently piloting a set of three courses that offer holistic FinTech business development education. Our approach integrates regulatory and business mindsets, addressing the need for a balanced perspective crucial for long-term business success.

The set consists of three courses:

  • The first course equips students with foundational knowledge and analytical skills essential for critically assessing sector-level developments and capitalizing on existing and emerging market opportunities in the dynamically evolving FinTech sector.
  • The second course provides insights into the regulatory landscape of the FinTech sector, with a particular focus on developing a compliance roadmap for a FinTech business.
  • In the third course, students leverage their newly acquired knowledge to develop their own FinTech business model idea in a capstone project.

The courses will be available at two levels: bachelor level (undergraduate) and master’s level (graduate). They are designed to be inclusive, requiring no specific prerequisites, enabling students from various disciplines to learn about FinTech business model development.

We developed these courses based on stakeholder feedback and gap analysis. We will continue engaging with the ecosystem to improve the course offering throughout the project.

BUILDING TEACHING AND

LEARNING COMMUNITIES

ACROSS LATVIA

Through this initiative, we hope to build a FinTech business education teaching community across higher education institutions in Latvia. We are currently designing and piloting these courses at RTU Riga Business School at Riga Technical University. From 2024/2025, course materials, faculty training and funding for course integration within existing programs will be available to other higher education institutions in Latvia.

Alongside courses, we will be launching a series of events that bring together students, faculty and researchers with Fintech ecosystem experts to build a broader learning community.
